MUSC 1010 Intro to Music
For the first of three research papers required for this class, we had to choose a 12-15 minute classical composition and write a biography on the composer. My composition was a transcribed piano version of Johann Sebastian Bach's "Partita for Violin Solo No. 2 in D Minor"--also known as Chaconne. I had to write two pages on his life, what type of music he wrote, whether he was popular, how he compared to other composers of his time, and what his contribution was to the world of music.

Reflection
This biography took a lot of research, even though most of it was aquired from one website which provided extensive detail on Bach's life. For me, it wasn't a question of finding enough information, but what from this information could I use in my report? As it turned out, I seemed to trim the details on his life a little too much, and my report lacked fluidity in the timeline and details on the people Bach worked for. I still found Bach's life interesting to research, though, and I even almost enjoyed writing the report.
